Rather than simply complete the assignment with a random organization, Blair decided to use her class project to raise awareness about enslaved and exploited children.<\/p>\n<p><a style=\"text-decoration: underline\" href=\"https:\/\/www.touchalifekids.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/BlairBurney.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-1965\" alt=\"BlairBurney\" src=\"https:\/\/www.touchalifekids.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/BlairBurney-811x1024.jpg\" width=\"292\" height=\"368\" \/><\/a>Several years earlier, when Blair was a student at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coppellisd.com\/chs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Coppell High School<\/a> near Dallas, TX, she heard about Touch A Life through a student club named &#8220;Hope for Africa.&#8221; Blair remembered the Touch A Life story immediately when she was asked to come up with a non-profit to study in her class at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unt.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">UNT<\/a>. She began her research by reading <a title=\"Jantsen's Gift\" href=\"https:\/\/www.touchalifekids.org\/jantsens-gift\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jantsen&#8217;s Gift<\/a> and gathering information from the Touch A Life website. Blair then visited the Touch A Life headquarters in Dallas and set up an interview with <a title=\"Our Story\" href=\"https:\/\/www.touchalifekids.org\/our-story\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Pam Cope<\/a> and the Touch A Life staff. Blair told us, &#8220;When\u00a0I first met Pam she was warm, open, and interested in all of my questions, as well as some questions my roommate had. She made me want to get involved and made me want to go to Ghana and help!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Part of the class project was writing an article to be published in a local news source, so Blair wrote a profile article about Pam, and it was published in the Coppell Citizen&#8217;s Advodate. Some other parts of the assignment included a press release, logo concept, and a detailed fact sheet about the cause.
